Battle Abbey Wedding Photography
Back in April I headed down to Battle Abbey. Firstly this is not your typical Wedding Venue. Set in sumptuous grounds the main building overlooks the old Abbey, built on the land that was supposedly the site for the famous battle in 1066. You know the one, where King Harold gets an arrow through the eye and William The Conquer takes up residence.
As you walk into the main building you are greeted by the largest painting you are likely to set eyes upon. This is a famous painting by a chap called Frank Wilkin (Thanks Google) depicting the moment William finds Harold and takes the Crown of England for himself. You will see this rather splendid paining in several images below.
With the high vaulted ceilings and large windows allowing natural light to pour in the main hall is a perfect location for your Ceremony. After the drinks reception we headed next door to the library for the Wedding Breakfast and speeches. The Groom’s brother was certainly in no mood to avoid his best man duties. Over the previous few weeks he had been beavering away producing items that may be of use to his Brother and his new wife in their marriage. However after taking a close look it might appear that the Sally and Dave might file these items in the loft.
It had been a chilly day and throughout the morning we had been dodging the showers. However in the early evening the Sun came out and we headed down to the Abbey ruins. Once inside we were treated with beautiful stone columns being lit by a warm gentle light filtering in from the windows.
Into the evening we were treated to a live band which everybody could dance the night away to.
